R.I.P. Danny Getz

I was complaining a while back about old friends who did not have any internet prescence and jokingly hoped they hadn't died in a car accident.

Well, when I was bored in China, I kept looking people up, and yeah, I found one of my friends had died of heart disease at the age of 36. I found him via his memorial lecture series web page

He ended up specializing in Indonesia studies, married a local girl, and had two daughters.

That hits a little close to home. That could have easily been my life path.

Ironically, we met while studying in the Indonesian city of Malang, which literally means "bad luck."
